This is the companion book to The Star-Crossed Queen. We follow Gauri who is an exiled princess trying to regain her kingdom and Vikram a prince trying to become more than just a figurehead. Together they must play a deadly game in order to be granted their greatest wish.
OMG this was such a beautiful book. I absolutely love this author's writing style, it is absolutely whimsical.
The characters were fantastic Gauri is such a strong female character. She was trained as a warrior but she just wants to do what's best for her people. Vikram is so smart, and he wants to be more than a puppet king only doing what his council will allow him.
I enjoyed the world building filled with monsters and gods. The game concept was pretty interesting but I am not going to lie, I came for the characters.
I can't stop gushing about this book but I am giving it a B+.
I loved the character growth and the world, but the game itself was a bit off. I didn't ever feel that the characters were in serious danger.
I devour worlds with each new book. I am making up for lost time as a late bloomer of the reading world.
