First off I want to thank Reuts Publications for sending me an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This book follows Lex, she works for an Agency that combats demons. Or at least she did work for them before she and her sister were attacked. Now Lex is left to try to find out why demons have abducted her sister and how she can get her back. This book hit the ground running, unfortunately it couldn't continue that momentum. The first third of this book contains a police case, demon showdown, an epic battle and kidnapping. There was so much action that characters took a backseat. So the story became a little disjointed when all of a sudden the pacing slowed down to a crawl so Lex can start investigating her sister's abduction. Besides the pacing I wasn't a fan of the world building, mostly because there was so little of it. I am still not sure who exactly Lex worked for and what kind of class system this world has. This book is being pitched as a "paranormal adventure for adults, with steampunk elements" but I can't name any of those elements. This was a very entertaining read, but there were issues with the pacing and the world building. I do think it is a very promising beginning. I give this book a C-. This book is slated to be released on April 4th.
