A case of police brutality rocks a tight community. Rashad was beaten over a misunderstanding and Quinn witnessed it. Quinn has a hard time understanding that his friend who was always watching his back could have caused this beating. Both boys are now reeling and wondering what to do next.
I absolutely loved this book.
This book was written and tells such an important story with such sincerity.
I sympathized with Rashad and his confusion after the attack. He is a good student, a member of the ROTC. He can't comprehend that he was hospitalized over a misunderstanding and for being a young black man in front of an aggressive cop.
And I could understand Quinn feeling conflicted. Does he side with the officer who he grew up with and protected him? How can you remain loyal to someone when you know their actions were wrong.
This is such an important book and I urge everyone to read it.
I give this book an A.
I devour worlds with each new book. I am making up for lost time as a late bloomer of the reading world.
