Andrea Bern is a 39 year old woman living the single life. She is much more than her marriage status, she is a daughter, sister, the aunt to a very sick girl, and she is tired of her job.
This book is told through personal essays, each one tackling a period in Andrea's life or a particular relationship. She is a very complex woman. She hates her job, feels like a failure because she couldn't make it as an artist.
She has failed relationship, she is jealous of her friends, and has a very complicated relationship with her family. She isn't the most likable character but she does come across as very authentic.
I love how this book challenges people on what it means to be single. I think this is the first book I have read about a single woman WHO STAYS SINGLE.
I give this book a B+.
I devour worlds with each new book. I am making up for lost time as a late bloomer of the reading world.
