This is a modern day retelling of Pride and Prejudice. Liz is a writer for a magazine but she puts her New York life on hold so she can rush back to Ohio and take care of her family. There her family drives her insane and her sister Jane meets a Chip Bingley who did compete in a reality show but is now a rising to fame doctor.
This was such a fun retelling that really captured the spirit of the original book.
Liz is taking charge of the family home and finances after her father had a serious heart attack and she realizes that the family might not be as wealthy as they previously were. I loved how problematic her sisters could be at time, they were so rude and mean to one another. They fought like real sister.
Bing being part of a reality dating show like the Bachelor oddly made a lot of sense. He is so well known and famous but still down to earth. Bing and Darcy were well respected doctors and they didn't have as many interactions with the sisters but I didn't mind.
There were so many new characters introduced and there were so many changes made to the story that made sense. I was surprised by the amount of diversity in this book and delighted by Mrs. Bennet's over the top reaction to it all.
I thought this was a great retelling and I highly recommend it.
I gave this book a B+
I devour worlds with each new book. I am making up for lost time as a late bloomer of the reading world.
