To read the official synopsis, click here. Sophie Straw wants to follow in her idol's foot steps. She wants to be taken seriously as a comedienne in the 1960s. When she arrives to London she wants to leave her mark. Oh boy.
This was a bit a let down. Months ago I read The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and I absolutely loved it (you can read my review here). I thought that this book would be similar, that we would a behind the scenes look behind a success sitcom. And while we did get so many glimpses of that world the character development was just not there. I thought think Sophie or any of the other characters felt realistic. Part of this disconnect was because there was so much info dumping. This was the worst case of telling not showing. I was just so disappointed by this book. I gave it a D.
