Phoebe is different from everyone else in her family. Her father is a rock star. Her mother walked away from being the lead singer of his band to raise Phoebe and her sister, Luna. Now it is Luna's turn to rise to fame. Phoebe is determined to use her New York trip to visit her sister, to discover how she fits into this family.
I really loved this book. I am not sure if I would label this book as a YA. Even though we have a young protagonist this story is told through alternating timelines and we follow different point of views. We follow Phoebe in the present while she is visiting her sister, trying to reconnect with her father, and finally rebelling in her way. We also follow her mom's point of view during her rise and fall from fame.
The characters were also very complex, they felt so authentic. I really liked seeing the complexity between Kieran and Meg, Phoebe's parents, and then the relationship Phoebe's relationship with her father.
This was such a wonderful coming of age story. This was a wonderful story about family.
I really enjoyed this book and I highly recommend it.
I give this book a B.
I devour worlds with each new book. I am making up for lost time as a late bloomer of the reading world.
