Griffin's life imploded when Theo died. Theo was his best friend and first love. No one can fully comprehend the grief that Griffin is going through right now, except maybe Jackson who was currently dating Theo.
This is Adam Silvera's second book and this one broke my heart too.
Argh just thinking about Griffin hurts my heart.
This was such a well done book that tackles grief, first love, first heartbreak. It was filled with fandoms and wonderful friendship. It was such a well done story.
This book is told through past and present alternating timelines. We got to see the beginning of Theo and Griffin's relationship and the aftermath of Theo's death.
Griffin was a complex character. He is suffering from OCD. He has to do certain things in a specific order or else he feels very overwhelmed and anxious. There were so many moments when I wanted to hug him, shake him and others when I wanted to slap him.
He was so far from perfect, his grief made him do some pretty shitty things. But this book reminded me that grief hits people in different ways. There is no right or wrong way to handle loss.
I did love all Griffin's family and Jackson and Wade. Silvera included so many wonderful supporting characters and really fleshed out this world.
I cried. I laughed. I gave this book an A.
I devour worlds with each new book. I am making up for lost time as a late bloomer of the reading world.
