This is book is split in half. We follow two girls, one living at Haven Institute with other clones or replica and the other who has always lived a very sheltered life. They are two very different girls, with different experience but their stories intertwine to form a much larger whole.
I really really liked this book.
I love how this two separate stories that occasional intertwine. I like how the actual book is split in half and you can alternate how you read this story.
I really like our two main characters Lyra and Gemma. They aren't the typical ya main character. Lyra is a replica (clone) she grew up knowing that she isn't a person. Gemma is an overweight sickly girl. Both girls has actually been very sick.
I thought both stories were very well developed and had intriguing characters. I really like how this book is setting up the rest of the series. This definitely felt like a first book. This doesn't work as a standalone story because when I was done I knew there would be a sequel.
That is my only nitpick with this book otherwise I am gave this book a B.
I devour worlds with each new book. I am making up for lost time as a late bloomer of the reading world.
