Sydney has always lived in her brother's shadow. When he is sent to prison, Sydney ops to transfer schools and start again new. When she befriends Layla, she get absorbed into her large family. It with the Chathams that Syndey finally begins to feel seen.
Argh I just love all of Sarah Dessen's characters.
Sydney was such a sweet girl and it just broke my heart that she felt so invisible among her family. Her mother especially was focused on her older brother and his life in prison. I couldn't comprehend how hyper focused her mom was.
I just loved how warm and inviting Layla's family was in comparison. They were so different so warm.
This book had a large extended cast and I do believe all the characters and how much we much time we were able to spend with them.
I give this book a B+
I devour worlds with each new book. I am making up for lost time as a late bloomer of the reading world.
