Something happened to the world. Time has fractured somehow, so now depending on where you are in the world will depend on what time period you are in. Sophia's parents disappeared exploring this new world, so she lives with her uncle Shadrack who is a famed mapmaker in 1891 Boston. It is Shadrack's disappearance that prompts Sophia to leave her time and travel west with the help of a boy named Theo.
I wanted to love this book. I really did. I absolutely loved the premise of this book. I thought the author did a great job at the world building and the book was beautifully written.
But I was really confused. I had a hard time following what this story was about.
I couldn't follow what exactly was happening in this book. I couldn't keep all the characters straight in my head.
I listened to this book rather than reading it. I am not sure if this made a real difference. But since there are so many people that love this book I am adding it to reread pile.
I give this book a C.
I devour worlds with each new book. I am making up for lost time as a late bloomer of the reading world.
