Here are the synopsis for the following book: Shadow and Bone, Siege and Storm, Ruin and Rising.
I finally read the original Grisha Verse!!!
I am so happy that I finally read this series because I absolutely adored the Six of Crows duology.
There was so much hype surrounding this beloved series that I knew I was bound to be a little disappointed. I wasn't expecting to be overall meh about this series though.
We follow our protagonist, Alina, who is a Grisha with ability so strong that people are trying to use her to end a war. This series has a magic system, an expansive world, and kinda meh characters.
I went into this series knowing that people love Alina and the villain the Darkling. It wasn't until after I finish the series that I was able to able to see the over arching character growth. I had a tough time seeing the growth within each book, especially with Alina.
I wasn't a big fan or our protagonist. I liked Alina when she was trying to learn more about her Grisha abilities but as soon as we got her around a love interest I thought she fell a little flat.
What kept me going through the series was all the wonderful side characters. I ended up finding them a lot more compelling.
I gave this whole overall series a C. I am glad I read this series, mostly because I understand all the grisha post that keep appearing on my tumblr feed.
I devour worlds with each new book. I am making up for lost time as a late bloomer of the reading world.
