Evelyn Hugo is was the top actress of her day. She lived a life scandal and riches. But now she is older, everyone she cares about is gone and she is finally read to tell the truth of her career and the many men that she married.
I absolutely loved this book.
This was such a well written book that talked about the less than glamorous life of old Hollywood. This story is told through a series flash backs as Evelyn is telling her life story to a young reporter.
Evelyn is a smart, passionate and talented actress. She was able to manipulate the narrative in a way that got her the biggest fan sympathy and box office success. She isn't always the kindest person but her unrelenting drive is so admirable.
All throughout the Hollywood story, there is a wonderful love story. There is a wonderful story about found family. There is also an underlying mystery about who this reporter Monique is and why Evelyn chose her to write her biography.
This was a wonderful book and I can't wait for everyone to read it.
I gave this book an A.
I devour worlds with each new book. I am making up for lost time as a late bloomer of the reading world.
