It has been three years since Isabella's first voyage to study dragons. Now she is leaving on a new journey to another foreign land to study a different breed of dragons.
The second book in the Lady Trent memoirs. Isabella is at a different stage of her life, she isn't as naive as she once was. She is still fighting so many double standards, even after the success of the last expedition she was apart of.
The book did a wonderful job of showcasing her team studying the dragon behavior, immersing themselves with their environment and the people. There were so many moments where Isabella was shocked by the other's culture, and she had to fight her own pre-existing notions to try to understand others.
This book was a lot slower than the first book. Even though the stakes were higher now, I didn't feel the urgency as the first one. There were moments where I was lost because there were so many characters introduced so quickly.
I give this book a C.
I devour worlds with each new book. I am making up for lost time as a late bloomer of the reading world.
