Lyse gets the phone call that no one ever wants to get, her great-aunt, Eleanora is very ill. This makes Lyse drop everything in her life and come back to Echo Park a place she never thought she would see again. While her aunt is trying to put somethings in order, Lyse can't help but wonder how sick her aunt is if she keeps talking about witches.
I am always on the hunt for an amazing witch book. I really wanted to love this book, sadly it fell a little flat for me.
I loved the bond the women of this coven had. I liked their magic system. Sadly, we didn't get to spend a lot of time with coven. This book primarily revolved around Lyse and Eleanora and Lyse finding out about witches.
This book felt more like the first book in series rather than a complete story. There were so many hits, clues, and "subtle" nudges about future big bad monster/events coming their way. It really took me out of the story wondering what clues are for this book and which ones are for possible book 2 or 3.
I gave this book a C.
I devour worlds with each new book. I am making up for lost time as a late bloomer of the reading world.
