This is the third book in "the Memoir of Lady Trent" series. It has been six years since Isabella's last adventure and it has now time for her to start her ambitious two-year tour around the world.
I am absolutely loving how Marie Brennan is spacing out this series. We get to see Isabella grow as a character, mother, and naturalist. We are seeing how her world is changing around her for both good and bad.
While she is expanding the knowledge of dragons, people around her are realizing what can they create with the dragon remains. It has been hinted on how destructive this knowledge will be at a later date. This book we get to see government interfering more with Isabella and her research.
My favorite part of this series continues to be Isabella and her team's interaction with the local culture. Isabella has really matured since the last book. She is a lot more open to different ideas and cultural customs. She might not fully understand those around her but she is open to seeing things from their point of views.
I think this might be my favorite book so far, it was funny, smart and very entertaining.
I give this book a B.
I devour worlds with each new book. I am making up for lost time as a late bloomer of the reading world.
