This is the sequel to Sleeping Giants. It has been ten years since the first book. As humanity is starting to adjust to the idea of ancient machines existing they weren't prepared for another giant machine to suddenly appear. No one knows why the machine showed up or who is commanding it.
I absolutely love series, I can't believe I am saying this but I think I love this book more than the first one.
We still follow the same core characters, the mysterious government figures, scientist, and pilots. The story continues to be told through mission reports and recorded interviews. But we are seeing how they react to the absolute worst case scenario.
This book just hit me right in the feels. All the panic and anxiety was incredibly well written. There were so many moments were I was left unsure of the fate of these characters and the planet. All the emotions just came across so real and authentic.
I highly recommend listening to the audiobooks, they have a full cast of characters and it helps add to the reading experience.
I give this book an A+
I devour worlds with each new book. I am making up for lost time as a late bloomer of the reading world.
